Finger Post Chipping Camden - Coppermine - 723.jpg
Finger Post Chipping Camden

'Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire. A survivor from the 17th century, at a height where it could be read more easily by drivers of coaches on the high road above the town. This is possibly the earliest finger sign still in situ, dated 1669. On one of the arms the lettering is abbreviated to fit - Gloster and Woster.'
