Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 09, 2008 by nowsterAfter crossing the Scottish Border, we see the first motorway fork sign in Scotland. All traffic for Gretna & Gretna Green having gone off at the A6071 junction.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 19, 2005 by ABeatonThis is the last Motorway fork sign in England on the West Coast. The Next one is in Scotland. It is for the A75
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 19, 2005 by ABeatonHere is the sign for the Scottish Border on the A74(M) at Grenta. The 'country' sign is after this border sign. This was the first section to be upgraded back in the early 1990's
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 18, 2005 by ABeatonHere is the English Border sign on the B7076. This was the old A74 in the 1960's. When the A74 was oringailly Dualled, it By-passed Gretna and Gretna Green. This section of the B7076 has been B7076 for at least 12-13 years. Before it was unclasffyed.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 08, 2006 by ABeatonThe end of the line for the A74(m), hard to notice but near England sign is a sign stating the start of the M6 Extension from Carlisle to Guards Mill Opening Winter 2008
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 22, 2006 by Kenny1975Taken at the carpark exit from the Gretna outlet village. As you can see, the M6 has been completed across the Cumberland gap and runs all the way to Glasgow! This section of A74(M) was one of the first to be constructed, so gives a clear idea of what the authorities had in mind
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 07, 2005 by Roadtripper_IanThis road sign is at the end of the slip road from the M74, where it becomes the A75.
Heading west on the A75, which is a dual carriageway for a short distance after leaving the M74 motorway.
The bridge goes over the river Sark which is the English-Scottish border here.
Looking south at the first 400m of the A74(M)beyond that it is still the A74. This section will be upgraded to full motorway standards by the end of 2008
