Anyone know what the smiley face is for and what the message says? Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 04, 2008 by Truvelo

(Added by Viator:) It says "(Road)works. Thank you for your patience."

Martonvasar Hungary

This road is used as a short cut between the M6 and M7 motorways because there is no connection between them at Budapest. All signs clearly state where vignettes must be used.

Entering Slovakia from Hungary

Most stretches of motorway in Slovakia require a vignette. This rather over-complicated sign gives the prices. I had to stop to read it properly.

Hungarian VMS's are far superior to ours. There are more pixels and the graphics are in full colour.

This is a better picture of the full colour graphics. Most messages are in Hungarian, German and English.

A lot of smaller roads are full of potholes. A Lada Riva is parked at the brow of the hill and many are in excellent condition.

Roundabout sign - Coppermine - 14511.jpg
Roundabout sign

The road to Dunaujvaros is closed so there's no need for a vignette to use the motorway as a diversion. The good thing about road closures is there's an orange X to show which things don't apply rather than the British way of spraying grey paint over them.

This road runs alongside the Danube, but the bridge crosses it too - hence you have to turn right to get to it.

The cars on the right shouldn't be there - it's a bus lane. No idea why they bothered, police cars are commonplace and indeed one of these was pulled over (insofar as you can be when you're already in the bus lane...)

088 15-07-05 H 1 Budapest (Buda)

This is one of the main routes out of the City Centre - Hungary goes in for single-lane near-expressway bridges with non-expressway dual carriageways either side (the main road to the Airport is similar).
