As the A78 is close to the sea, it passes some of the ferrys to the Scottish Islands. This one is only 10 mins from Largs to Great Cumbrae Island. The ferry is rather small.

The A760 Largs to Kilbirnie road at Largs cemetery is known as Haylie Brae, pronounced locally as 'Heely'. The road climbs very steeply for the next mile, with a couple hairpin bends amongst the trees.
This road the A760 Largs/Kilbirnie has a notorious hairpin bend on it. The bend has been widened over the years to make it a bit safer. You can climb from sea level to 232 Mtrs. in just over 3Km.
Camphill and Muirhead reservoirs are in the foreground, with the A760 road running to their right and beyond. Largs is on the coast with Great Cumbrae, Bute and Loch Striven beyond.
Camphill is nearer the camera. Largs and the Firth of Clyde are in the distance. The A760 road can be clearly seen to the right of the reservoirs.
A surviving stretch of the old B785 can be seen following the lower right side of Camphill Reservoir.
