A58(M)/A64(M) in Leeds: coming on eastbound just before the right-hand exit (the sign for which is in the central reservation).
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 25, 2005 by TomIt's been a while since I've submitted a PotM nomination, and a while since we've had an '...... at night' submission. So here is the Leeds Inner Ring Road at night - taken from the Woodhouse Lane car park looking east - taken just after the conclusion of the SABRE Leeds Awayday in January 2004.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 24, 2007 by True YorkieThe cycle lane here is quite useful. The problem is whichever moron put a direction sign directly behind a bollard on two foot poles.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 20, 2005 by M4SimonAnother shot of that bit - how very twee. The only cyclist I've ever seen using all this joined the road, ignoring the cycle lights and bypassing this bit of track. I wonder how much all this cost.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 20, 2005 by M4SimonOne of the exits from the cycle lane around City Square. I'm all for improving access for all modes of transport, but this is ugly, obtrusive and completely unused. It's a cycle lane for the sake of building a cycle lane.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 20, 2005 by M4SimonA standard direction sign on the Loop. There shouldn't be two different font sizes for directions here, but what stands out more is a blue motorway patch with no road number in it.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 20, 2005 by M4SimonThe top end of the cycle lane where it heads up Park Row. Do the traffic lights have to be huge full size ones? They look ridiculous

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 20, 2005 by M4SimonOne of the surviving ones that became streetlights in the 60's. Many Leeds radials used to have these, most memorably the A63 up Halton Hill and the A660 through Headingley. These few cling on at Calverley Street, near the University campus

Heading out of Leeds to the A1(M) just after the M1. notice the long outreach streetlight brackets.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Nov 16, 2006 by True YorkieThe A64 at dusk, you can easily see the silloughette of the high mast columns. I cant accually see what lantern is on there.

The south portal of the tunnel, which takes its name from the now demolished Matthew Murray School. The tunnel was built specifically to shield the school from the intrusion and noise of the Ingram Road Distributor, A643, which feeds traffic from the M621 Motorway into the city centre of Leeds.
