Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 18, 2009 by csdThe new bridge visible is the M50 southbound carriageway as it arcs over the M1. Diverging to the left is the M1 south to M50 south slip, and the existing slip to the roundabout.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 04, 2007 by IJP1Traffic is now diverted off at the Ballymascanlon interchange. Previously it went straight through under the bridge in the distance. This slip road is newly completed as part of the N1/A1 project. Taken 29.04.07
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 29, 2007 by csdI'm not very keen the actual proposed plans for the M1/M50 interchange which involves building just a couple of bridges over the existing roundabout interchange that to continue on the M50 either way you'll need to turn off to stay on.
I think the M50 should continue by bypassing this interchange heading south to the Port Tunnel and the M1 to start/end on the M50 that the M50 is supposed to be the Dublin 'Orbital' Motorway but look at Manchester's M60 at one point you still have to turn off to stay on...

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 18, 2007 by odlumLooking east from Oldbridge Road. The River Boyne flows towards Drogheda - the church can just be seen in the distance framed by the bridge. The pic doesn't really do the scale of the bridge justice.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 27, 2006 by IJP1This original 1980's sign hasn't long for this world. The border around the 'M1' is unique on irish motorways AFAIK. This is the start of the Dublin Port Tunnel works. Don't know who put a lamp post in front of the sign!
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 29, 2006 by murphaphOnslip to the M1 at Coolock Interchange. This is the last interchange before the M50 looking at the northbound onslip. All the blue signage is original and is pretty decrepit looking at this stage. The orange diamond is a diversion sign for the Dublin Port Tunnel works. The 'motorway ahead' sign has been patched with a metric minimum speed. The vehicular traffic only sign is cos rules are there to be broken and you often see cyclists and people waiting for lifts under bridges on irish motorways!
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 29, 2006 by murphaphNot a bad gantry sign but the (N32) shouldn't be patched (same rules as the UK) and 'other routes' is a bit vague for my liking, They should have just printed 'N32-N2-N3-N4-N7-N81-N11' on the sign and dispensed with 'Malahide' altogether.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Feb 16, 2006 by murphaphThe M1 facing northbound from the R104 interchange, just after the start of the Dublin Port Tunnel. This section, in the future, is more likely to be renamed as the M50 as part of its eastern extension through the tunnel.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Feb 12, 2006 by DorsetWayThe start of the M1 in Santry, Dublin 9 facing northbound to Belfast. Even though it doesn't look like how a motorway should look like. It is more like a continuation of the N1 which is single carriageway. The newly dug up earth and the remaining streetlights on both far left and right of the pic shows the M1, at this point, was a standard motorway then being narrowed down to S2 because of the Dublin Port Tunnel. This probably will be downgraded to a primary route when the tunnel opens.
