Operation Stack - Coppermine - 17249.jpg
Operation Stack

Thursday March 13, 2pm. Just north of J9 M20. Bit tricky trying to choose the right day to come here, as the stack was opened and closed at regular intervals. I listened to the radio during the journey, expecting to hear it had been cleared but, luck was on my side. From this, they seem to have cleared one lot and, were building up the next stack.

Divided Traffic

Northbound on the M20. Southbound queuing on the A20 at Harrietsham. CTRL inbetween. After the village, speeds were around 40-50mph to Ashford so, not too bad.

M20 - 'Lost' Services?

Just after J11a is this mileage sign to the Services. On the bottom is 28m to Maidstone Services at J8, but what is that patch on top for.....?

Could it be Westenhanger Services, currently under construction?

M20-M25 Swanley Interchange (1985) - Coppermine - 19121.jpg
M20-M25 Swanley Interchange (1985)

Lets go back in time for this photo of the month. This was taken by me in 1985 and shows the M20/M25 Swanley Interchange without much traffic around. The photo was taken from the B2173 overbridge and shows the M20 running under the interchange. The unopened M25 (it would open the following February) through the junction serves as the horizon. This image was scanned from the original colour print.
