M60 J3-4

These signs, on the clockwise carriageway at J3-4, are considered confusing by some motorists, who end up cutting across the tiger-tails, etc. Why does this happen when this sign clearly points out the lanes...?

All of a sudden, you are faced with 15 signed destinations on one sign AND a motorway TOTSO. There are even more destinations on smaller signs alongside the carriageway - Cheadle Royal, Trafford Centre, Castlefields, G-Mex.

M56 is closed between J6-8 due to a bridge replacement. This is the start of the queue between J4-5.
M56 J6-J8 closure queue.jpg
M56 between J6-8 is closed so all traffic has to leave at the next junction. Traffic on the left of the picture is joining from the airport.
M56 closure at J9.jpg
Traffic heading east on the M56 has to leave due to a bridge replacement at the next junction. Three lanes have been maintained here which results in traffic moving normally. It would have been all to easy to force everything into one or two lanes resulting in long queues.

After Stoak, the road goes down to two lanes, and the road quality is about to take a decline...

Here, on the final stretch of M56 north of Chester (approaching the bridge over the A41), the surface is of very poor quality.

The bridge over the A41 marks the last mile to go before the western end of the M56.

A mile later we reach the end of the M56, and the road becomes the A494 at a seemingly arbitrary point. Half a mile to Parkgate Roundabout.

Old Manchester 8. M56 & Airport Spur

The interesting thing here is not the Airport spur. There is some sort of road proposed for round the South and the East sides of Newall Green? Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 03, 2005 by Mediaman_12

A No Peds, No Horses, No cycles sign which is placed right at the end of the sliproad. Why is it at the end of the slip and not the beginning - because there's a bus stop on the sliproad!!! Also, there is a cycle path which starts here which runs along the left side of the carriageway.
