N67
Disembarking at Killimer, on the north shore. In the background is the power station at Tarbert in County Kerry.
View across the estuary towards the lighthouse and power station at Tarbert Co. Kerry.
Another of the ferries is heading south, this being a popular way of avoiding congested Limerick, the lowest bridging point. The ferries are very large and frequent- could this be a way forward for Scotland's Forth crossing, with its falling down bridge and big queues?
Fare in 2006 14 Euro.Beelaclugga Bridge The bridge carries the N67 road across the Annagh River. The river is a combination of many streams flowing from the Slievecallan area 10 kilometres to the east, joining for their final rush to the Atlantic Ocean, which is about 200 metres to the right.
The bridge and the Cascades at Ennistymon An archway in Main Street near the bridge leads to a footpath from which the town's magnificent falls can be seen. Known as the Cascades, these stepped falls are on the River Inagh. Pictures cannot adequately convey how impressive these falls are, nor the sound of them. They are without doubt the best thing to be seen in the town and well worth going a long way out of your way to visit.
If you want to bypass Limerick while travelling along our West coast your best bet is to take the Shannon ferry from Killimer in Co. Clare to Tarbert in Co. Kerry or vice versa.
