The familiar red street furniture of Network SouthEast in all its glory in this mid 90's view with the inner ring road behind. I can't remember when I took this but I think it was 1996.

1972 Northampton Development Plan
This map is an copy of a drawing I saw in a Northants Library but as I'm not a member I can't borrow the book so I've had to redraw it. All the road alignments are accurate including the locations of roundabouts - those with a line through them are GSJs. The red line is a public transport corrider - whatever it's supposed to be I don't know as I couldn't find any information on it, presumably it means bus priority.

National Cycle Network Route 6 (C) Burgess Von Thunen Goes through Brackmills Industrial Estate.
Planned layout of the unbuilt Millers Meadow Interchange in Northampton. The Central Area Distributor Road would have given way at the roundabout to a North-South expressway that was also never built. The North-South road was planned to be built at a later date so the layout shown would have had temporary tie-ins to the local road network. These would later become slip roads.
York Road (C) Alan Murray-Rust Victorian houses line this road which is part of the circuit of main roads close around the town centre. The alignment from the map suggests that it may follow the line of the old medieval town boundary.
