Plank Lane Bridge, Leigh
The Plank Lane bascule (lifting) bridge in Leigh, taken on a glorious May 11th morning. The road climbs an embankment on either side due to the Leeds/Liverpool Canal being built on the top of it, with the road being about a foot over the water's surface. The twin-head signals are used to allow traffic to turn into and out of the road to the right of the picture whilst the bridge has been raised.

Road infrastructure rarely geta a look-in here. There are two roads though, B3089 in the foreground and, A303 beyond the garage.

Bealach na Ba (western side)
Long time no see from me - I think it's nearly three years since I last entered! :*)
I think it's unfair that the eastern side, through Coire na Ba, should get all the attention. The western side is also a significant bit of engineering - not bad for 1825 or so! Since then, it's seen only the introduction of asphalt (unlike the east, which now has CRSF and snow poles).

Someone was kind enough to say this WAI picture was nice, so I thought I'd submit it to POTM.
Yes, everyone else was looking the other way, at the stones someone has dumped right next to the ancient Harroway!
