What is the point in these signs notifying road users that they are leaving the 20mph zone and entering a 30mph limit in Highbury, Portsmouth, when the 30mph road is closed off to motorised traffic with concrete bollards? Maybe the speed limit is for cyclists. To further question the necessity of the signs, I think the road on the other side of the bridge will become 20mph, if it hasn't already.

UPDATE! The two gantry signs have been replaced with two that are exactly the same but slightly smaller and they each have their own 'chopsticks' symbol.

Every year Wightlink ferries carry 5.5 million passengers, 1.2 million cars and 200,000 coaches across the Solent.

The Normandie Express passes The Point; it's massive!
Whilst it's good that some of this stuff didn't get built, it would have been nice if some bits that weren't built had been built.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 18, 2005 by MSAJohnnyYou can easily imagine this as a roundabout interchange.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 18, 2005 by MSAJohnnyAn extract of the OS map from the mid / late 1960s showing the Havant bypass which predated the Farlington bypass. The original route of the A3(M) would have come between the two carriageways of the link road running towards the top of the screen. Apart from the A27 slip roads and the southbound carriageway of the link road, all these roads on this map have gone. Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 15, 2007 by SteveM

They still call it the M27 (E)...
Look at how the right hand part of the sign is bigger. This is just the old sign bodged up, hence the VMSs being slightly out of place.
