Looking east from the same bridge, its nearly ready for business. Junction for Airport and Clyst Honiton. As only half the new road was opened for the eclipse, it still jammed up where it rejoined the old. The rest opened by Feb 2000 so, presumably this would also have been scheduled for then, had there been no solar fun.

Looking west along the new road on Aug 2 1999. It opened on Aug 6, around 7am, from M5 to just west of B3177, where it crossed the old. They were going flat out to finish this, much earlier than scheduled, because Prescott had decided to get it open before the total eclipse the following week.
