N7 J4 s/b

The LILO accesses are not numbered on the widened scheme, only full access junctions receive a number which makes some sense to me. This is just north of Rathcoole Village, which is to the left of the bypassing road. The overbridge here was not built as part of the latest widenning but the road underneath was D2 up until this scheme made it D3.

I grew up in the village of Newcastle btw! The pedestrian bridge here predates this latest N7 upgrade. Note the long offslip to J4 which is well beyond this point.

Gantry!

A rare thing to behold in Ireland, an overhead gantry! They won't be as rare when the M50 is widened though.

The old 'single panels over each lane' with repetitive information overload are gone. This is much better.

A funny junction, there's a sharp left hander right at the start of the slip (which is very long and has wire rope barrier separating it from the mainline, ths preventing local traffic from directly acessing the mainline, but instead forcing it along the slip to J4 proper.
