I had never done the bit of A435 from A436 to Cheltenham so, obviously had to rectify that. This is the descent into Cheltenham, 1 mile of S2/1.

Looking west from a bridge as work to dual this stretch is about to get underway. The catseyes from when this was S3 are still in situ where the double white lines change over making night driving a weird experience.

Back down again. Once the trunk route to South Wales, until Sept 1966, when the Severn Bridge opened and, the A4 took over that role, for the next 5 years. The remaining traffic disappeared in March 1974, when J5-8a opened.

Naturally, I slipped through Horton to bypass most of the jam. Ironic really. This is from the A358 bridge, on the section towards Chard. Looking west.

This first section of the Three Towns By-Pass is S2+1. Though still single, this is much faster than the oringail road though the three towns witch is now called the A738.

This Just In, last night. Divvy time again. The M5 was closed s/bnd between J26-27, by a lorry fire so, the best bit of A38 north of Exeter came alive again.
