The 5 km Sligo Inner Relief Route took just 17 months to complete, and opened to traffic in September 2005.

18 N4 Sligo Inner Relief Road - urban section
Although not quite bypassing the town completely, the Inner Relief Road offers a much quicker through-route for Donegal-bound traffic. This picture shows the urban section, which has traffic lights and footpaths. The N4 ends shortly after this picture was taken, to be replaced by the N15 on our journey to Donegal
