An old Pre-warboys 15mph speed limit sign was recently replaced by a brand-new version by the army Authorities on army land at Brompton, Gillingham, Kent. Is this the only example of a 'Brand-New' Pre-Warboys design sign?

Pre-Warboys 15mph sign at Brompton, Gillingham, Kent, with a warboys school sign. The 15mph sign still exists, but its lost its school sign. They are on army land, which probably explains why they still exist! Photo by Mike Miller

Ancient speed limit sign

rather the worse for wear, and not very firmly attached to the post, is this relic from a bygone age. When the sign was erected, the only regular services to the airport were DH89 biplanes built in the 1930s! (The helicopter service started in 1964 - the same year that Warboys reported. The DH89s hung on until 1970)
