Exeter 20 Limit - Coppermine - 20009.jpg
Exeter 20 Limit

A blanket 20 mph limit now applies across the entire city centre of Exeter, including a number of roads where 30 mph is an entirely reasonable (and indeed commonplace) speed. The buses ignore it too!

Well, which is it?

Someine should have removed the reminder when the limit was changed! Or does the limit last just for the thickness of the post? Junction of Dagmar Road and Park Road, Kingston upon Thames

A seemingly rural 20mph limit on the C612 south of Tockholes - Coppermine - 1435.jpg
A seemingly rural 20mph limit on the C612 south of Tockholes. There is a village ahead, but it's about 800 yards away from this sign. By the way, the 30 limit is about 1 mile long, and has no repeaters, and is thus technically unenforceable. It raises to 50mph (with repeater signs!) when it gets nearer the A675. I was completely unaware that they were replacing the bridge, but it's amazing what you can discover! This shows the temporary road bridge with a 20mph limit. The bridge is being constructed to the right.

IOM 20MPH Zone - Coppermine - 13343.JPG
IOM 20MPH Zone

There are quite a lot of 20MPH zones on the IOM. They do not appear to be used with repeaters or traffic calming to provide reminders of the zone's speed.

Strange speed limit sign, St.Brelade Jersey - Coppermine - 18292.jpg
Strange speed limit sign, St.Brelade Jersey

I have no idea what this sign means however I would understand if a normal 20mph sign is used instead as this is a residential neighbourhood!

Edit for explanation: This means that the 20mph limit is cancelled and the NSL limit once again applies. However some of these signs are outdated since the road they adjoin is now a 30mph limit.

The bridge crosses the North Kent railway line. There seems to be confusion over the speed limit at this point, with 30mph / 20mph signs at opposite sides of the road! There are also signs for the London Cycle Network.
