where the A30, A308 and A3044 meet. Includes traffic lights and a road running through the middle so A30 traffic does not have to travel round the edge!

Until finding this, I had thought the 1961 opening was all of the Staines bypass. In fact, it was only the busier A30 section.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 15, 2008 by SteveA301994 plan for Runnymede Interchange as part of proposals to widen the M25 by means of adding CD Lanes. The eastern side of the northern roundabout would be enlarged to allow all movements between here and the southern roundabout to take place to the east of the M25. The loop near the southern roundabout would be removed.
This scheme was never carried out and the subsequent widening of the M25 a decade later was carried out by the conventional means of adding additional lanes to the existing carriageway. This meant no changes were made to the junction.
