A16 Stamford By-Pass - Coppermine - 12429.png
A16 Stamford By-Pass

The Stamford By-Pass. D2 Standard between the A1 and Pilsgate, and an S2 between Pilsgate and the existing A16, incorporating a new viaduct over a railway and river. A GSJ would be built at the A1/B1081 junction to enable easy access to the new by-pass. The old A16 through Stamford would be re-numbered as the B1086 (unless it already exists :P). This pic shows how old roads give away their ancestry. The road in the foreground is the B1081 north of Stamford, the road in the background is the A1 which dog legs around Stamford here. But at one time came straight down the road in the foreground. See how they line up.
