This is actually a very early example of modern construction, the whole diagram is relective as discovered when my flash went off on the next one.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 12, 2009 by DavidNW9This is the closeup of the other pole along the Thames Path, Walton-On-Thames.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 10, 2009 by RoadKillEveryone takes the pair on the pole but I haven't seen a picture of this one next to it before. The finger puts the date well before the war, probably the first war as well.

Here is a pair of them surrounding the Thames Path. Only one of the signs are intact.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 04, 2009 by RoadKillThe moss covers a perfect sign, sadly soon after it was taken the sign was removed, leaving an empty pole.

We've seen a blue circle with a pedestrian and a bicycle but not this.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 04, 2009 by RoadKillFound in Fetcham, Surrey, although clearly pre-Worboys this is not a standard type of sign but cul-de-sac is often used on local road names there, although this is the first I've found on a separate notice.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 09, 2009 by DavidNW9Leafy Surrey, where they never get proper winters. Most side roads in Surrey/North Hampshire were like this in early Jan 2010
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jan 11, 2010 by SteveA30The is the A30 meets the A321 and the A331 in Camberley. Inconsistant signing. Places marker 1: This has just been rebuilt and is signed Farnham, Guildford (A321) Marker 2: Farnham A331 (lose Guildford and becomes green) Marker 3: Farnham (A325) and back to white. The A30 is a non primary route here and a mile north of the M3. Marker 1 Signs both London and Staines along the non primory A30. The fun begins the other way, just dont follow it for Basingstoke They vanish the other side of blackwater

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Nov 26, 2008 by SteveA30The Pipe Elephant constructed by the builders firm that used to occupy the space behind. It was a landmark on the journey to the West Country in the old days. A30 Camberley, looking west.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 15, 2007 by SteveA30The road was an S4 in much of Camberley. Now its a mess of roads and lanes and lights. This was 8 am on a Sunday. It takes 30 mins to get through the town on a weekday rush hour.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 15, 2007 by SteveA30The only bit of S4 left is over the rly at Blackwater. Looking west. The lights beyond, are part of a double set that stay red for ages. From memory, there were only 2 sets in pre M3 days, now there are 9 e/bnd.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 15, 2007 by SteveA30An early 1950's view of the Jolly Tea Rooms, on the A30 opposite the Jolly Farmer pub near Bagshot, looking east. This is a straight piece of road but, in 1960, a rbt. was built, for the A325 junction, with the Jolly Farmer pub in the middle, which remains today.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Nov 26, 2008 by SteveA30Egham bypass, dualled in the mid 60's. Not as rural as it looks.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 20, 2009 by SteveA30This untouched stretch is how most of it was from Egham to Camberley, wide S2.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 22, 2009 by SteveA30Heading west at Virginia Water. Leafy and expensive area of Surrey.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 22, 2009 by SteveA30The first diverted traffic approaches.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 03, 2006 by SteveA30Old A3 lives again, for 1 night only. Old garage on left.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 03, 2006 by SteveA30Queue caused by temporary lights at Thursley junction just around bend. Layby still used by n/bnd. traffic off D2 A3, as a peaceful refuge.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 03, 2006 by SteveA30Total closure of A3 to allow beams to be lifted into place. Southbound traffic diverted via slip roads.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 03, 2006 by SteveA30The former A3 at Thursley marked out by the HA, awaits its return to glory, as a diversion off the modern A3, in connection with GSJ construction. August 2004.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 03, 2006 by SteveA30A photo showing some wooden fencing to deaden the traffic noise and prevent pedestrians from crossing the busy road. There are a few gates in the fencing and they aren't locked, and a couple of them were open.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 22, 2007 by sotonsteveLooking Portsmouth-bound where a newer-build section on the flyover meets the old bypass. Just before the flyover heading southbound a 50mph limit starts, as a lot of traffic has to merge from this sliproad into two lanes of a trunk road, plus the old road is more narrow and winding.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 22, 2007 by sotonsteveLooking in a southerly direction where the newer section of the Guildford bypass meets the older section. Note the GEC 'Brick' in the foreground.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 22, 2007 by sotonsteveLovely bit of 1930's dual carriageway at Guildford. The bridge carries the A31 down the hill, leftwards, on the last leg of its journey from Bere Regis in Dorset. The date on the bridge is 1934. As the streetlights indicate, the slip up to A31 goes straight on and, the A3 veers sharply to the right and downhill.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 19, 2007 by SteveA30Looking east. The eastbound side was also the original S2. It is now the offslip into Ripley. Old DC continues to A247 rbt.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 27, 2007 by SteveA30Looking London-bound from the UniS/Onslow Village junction. Note how close the footway/cycleway is to the road, luckily behind a crash barrier. There is a pedestrian underpass here, but some people prefer to cross the busy A3, climbing over anti-pedestrian railings at the same time. Would you want to cross this road?
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 22, 2007 by sotonsteveLooking west along the old w/bnd c/way between Ripley and Guildford. Modern A3 veers offline to the left behind the trees, to form the Ripley bypass.
