Gallery:Vehicle activated signs
Old style flashing '40 slow' signage. This would have been activated by speed loops in the road. It has now been disabled.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Nov 18, 2007 by SteveA30The road used to flood at the head of Loch Creran if there was a combination of heavy rain and high tide. Traffic was diverted around up the drive to a private house at Druimavuich. This used to be done by a temporary sign in the road but eventually these automatic signs were installed either side of the area that flooded. The detector seems to be in the base of a post in middle of that section. Everything was wind and solar powered - the sign was only illuminated as a vehicle approached.

DEER WARNING SLOW DOWN
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 10, 2008 by J--M--B'Lower Down' seems a very appropriate name for this bridge! 7' 9' headroom posted (although it's rather more than that in the middle). Note the 'Low Bridge' electronic sign on the left, triggered if a tall vehicle passes it.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 12, 2005 by t1(M)A long straight rural road with a NSL limit has recently been calmed with a 40 mph limit and vehicle activated warning signs.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Oct 24, 2006 by multiraider2Vehicle actuated SLOW sign with bouncing balls on the B4098 Tamworth Road Fillongley travelling north westerly down into the village which is a 30 limit. This sign is about 150M in from the change of limit from 40 and about 150M further along there is a second one of these signs.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 05, 2007 by leekmanA driver travelling ever so slightly(!) above 30mph triggers the sign, warning them to slow down! Kind of almost like a 'driver-friendly' gatso!
