Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jan 24, 2009 by leopard680Longford is graced with a single-carriageway bypass, which passes the town to the east. This means traffic for the N5 must travel through the town centre, which isn't ideal.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 02, 2007 by leopard680How typical! The welcome sign for Kings Lynn, opposite the entrance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, is partially obscured by the roundabout sign!
Here's a better, zoomed in version of the surviving GR150, MA50 and Z9554M on Jenkins Lane. The MA50 is obstructed by the Give Way sign, but you can still just make it out. The geared MA60 on the octagonal steel column is out of shot to the right - it's still there, don't worry! Looking at the GR150, its column looks like it's leaning slightly - I just hope that won't mean replacement!
UPDATE: Unfortunately, replacement is what has happened! All three of these installations have now been replaced with Arcs.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 27, 2007 by AAndyThis roundabout junction with the N17 (Galway - Sligo road) marks the southern limit of the Collooney bypass, a D2 upgrade which has recently been extended all the way into Sligo town itself.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 26, 2006 by csdApproaching junction with unclassified roads, both of which lead to classified roads. Ahead is actually the more direct route to he N4 but due to planning conditions for this new road, signage must direct people along the R113 for the final stretch northbound.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 16, 2006 by murphaph?? two red triangle (hazard) signs warn respectively of the roundabout and that there are roadworks on the road to the left; ?? the brown sign with white lettering is typical of the type of sign used to give directions to tourist attractions. They usually include pictograms; examples in this case include silhouettes of a flower (for the Botanical gardens), a boat (for the canal) etc.
?? two temporary signs with black text on a yellow background provide details of diversion routes or direction signs through roadworks.Clearance for the new road can be seen to the left of the picture. The first structure, a bridge carrying a local road, is nearing completion just north of this point. The roundabout which currently forms the end of the improved road is straight ahead. This roundabut will evemtually form part of the dumbbell interchange at this point.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 02, 2006 by csdThe A1/N1 link will continue straight ahead. Clearance work currently underway.
