The Glen Fruin Roundabout lies midway along the Garelochhead Bypass on the A814. The bypass was built as part of the military roads providing access to Faslane and Coulport Naval bases. It is a simple 3-arm roundabout, where the A817 meets the A814 from the east, having crossed the hills through Glen Fruin from the A82 on the shores of Loch Lomond. The A814 is signed in brackets, perhaps dating back to the opening of the bypass, before the A814 was moved onto it. As with other roundabouts on the bypass, there is a gated roadway through the middle of the island to allow large vehicles to travel between Faslane and Coulport. The A817 is also gated, with Snow Gates although they are not painted the normal bright orange, perhaps because it is still officially a military road.
