Beginning in a residential area, Ridgeway isn't wide enough for a central line, though space has been left for dualling. Turning a 90 degree corner, the road becomes NSL, though still remains narrow. After the Galley Hill Roundabout with the V4, the road takes on full S2 width. However the bridge over the A5 was never constructed, so the road shortly ends, with a turning circle at the junction with Galley Hill. On the east side of the A5, there's another junction that allows you to u-turn. This part of the H1 hasn't got as obvious provision for dualling. It ends on the V5 at the Greenleys Roundabout and while there is a short stub of road directly opposite Ridgeway at the roundabout, it neither is, or was, intended to be part of H1.
