Haigh Roundabout is junction 38 of the M1. Opening in 1968, it links the M1 to the A637 and an unclassified road towards Woolley.
On the approach to the northbound exit slip on the M1, a black sign directs HGVs to continue straight ahead for the M62. The idea of this is to prevent rat-running on the A637, in particular the single-track section through the village of Flockton. At one point, rat-running by HGVs was such a problem that a dedicated motorway-standard M1-M62 link road was proposed; the link road has not been built, but the route remains a popular rat-run for lighter vehicles.
