Hambrook Lights is the only full-access junction on the Avon Ring Road between the M32 and A4 without a roundabout. This is largely down to history as this section of the A4174 predates the section to the east by 15-20 years. Two factors are preventing an easy fix, firstly the close proximity of housing in three of the corners, and secondly the short distance back to Frenchay Interchange and the M32. Indeed, it is not uncommon for traffic from the traffic lights to be queued back to the roundabout.
