High Cross Bank Roundabout is a junction at the north end of the Castle Gresley Bypass. High Cross Bank appears on maps, but locals would refer to it as part of Castle Gresley.

The T junction in 1952

Layout

The roundabout is slightly elongated to accommodate the two bridges over the Burton to Leicester railway line.

History

It was originally a T junction where A514 met A444 close to the former Gresley Station.

The junction took its current form with the opening of the Castle Gresley Bypass on 16 June 1995. Shortly afterwards, and by 1997, the A514 was diverted to the north when William Nadin Way was built in Swadlincote, leaving unclassified roads joining A444.
