Hollinwood Interchange is junction 22 of the M60 and was to be junction 8 of the M66. It opened in 2000.
History
The junction was initially planned in the 1960s as three level stacked roundabout. This would serve the M66 and a much improved A62 which was to be fully dualled between the centre of Manchester and Oldham. Part of this improvement was a bypass of Failsworth. None of this ever happened and it wasn't until 2000 that the M66 finally opened as the M60 and a simple diamond interchange was provided. The A62 was dualled between Hollinwood and Oldham but the section southwestwards towards Manchester remains unimproved with a Failsworth Bypass now looking extremely unlikely.
