Holm Mills Bridge over the River Ness

Holm Mills Bridge was built in 2017 as part of the Inverness West Link project, connecting the A82 with the pre-existing section of the B8082 to the south of the city. It is the first bridge to be built across the River Ness outside the immediate city centre area, and as such is expected to be a busy crossing point, relieving a lot of congestion from the city centre and helping to connect the vast new housing estates to the south and east of the city.

The bridge is a steel girder structure, with a total of 9 beams spanning the 3 spans across the river. There are two new piers on the river bed, and abutments on either bank, with the bridge designed to have sufficient capacity for the spates that can flood down from Loch Ness. The road deck will be a wide S2 carriageway, with provision for pedestrians and cycle routes. The number of the road crossing the bridge is not currently certain. The new Tomnahurich Roundabout on the A82 is signed with the A8082 number heading for the bridge, and what was the B8082 to the west has been upgraded to the A8082 since the bridge opened.
