Hooton Fork is an uncompleted fork interchange where the M53 narrows and heads off slip roads that used to be the start of the M531. It was planned that there would be an M53 Southern extension.

Hooton Fork junction in 1972. The slip roads lead to A41 and the Hooton Industrial Road prior to it being completed to M531

The bridge carrying the unbuilt mainline of the M53 to Backford Bridge was removed in the late 1990s.
