North Hykeham Roundabout, formally known as Hykeham Roundabout is a roundabout at the junction of the A46 and A1434 on the 'Fosse Way'. The roundabout is at the southern end of the Lincoln Western bypass. It is proposed that the roundabout would be enlarged and signalised as part of the North Hykeham Relief Road
History
Originally there was just a T-junction at the location where the Middle Lane ended on the A46. When the Lincoln Western bypass was built a roundabout was built here which was a two lane roundabout with an internal diameter of 30m. When the A46 between Newark and Lincoln was widened to a D2 in the early 2000s, Hykeham Roundabout was enlarged to an internal diameter of 48m which is how it remains to this day. It is proposed as part of the North Hykeham Relief Road, which would terminate at this roundabout, to further enlarge this roundabout to 3/4 lanes with all 4 of the 5 arms under signal control & incorporating signalised pedestrian crossings.
