Condor Ferries have been providing ferry services between the Channel Islands and the French mainland for over 50 years, latterly with vehicle ferries which are well patronised in the summer months. The ferry to/from St Malo is generally berthed overnight in France, so has a predominantly French crew.
Crossing
The crossing from St Helier on Jersey to St Malo takes abour 1 hour and 20 minutes. The vessel currently operating on the route is the Condor Rapide, a Catamaran similar to those used on the northern Irish Sea crossings. There are 2 daily return sailings most days during the summer months, allowing passengers from either port to take a day trip. In the winter months this generally dwindles to long weekend sailings, from Friday to Monday, and often require passengers to spend a night away as there is only call at a port some days. This is often managed by 3 sailings per day, with the ferry berthed in a different port each night.
