Kemnal Corner is a former junction on A20 between the Eltham and Sidcup Bypasses. It was originally a short multiplex with A211 between New Eltham and Sidcup.
Eltham Bypass from the west opened in 1923 and the Sidcup Bypass from the east in 1926. Both of these were single carriageway at the time. Eltham Bypass was converted to a dual carriageway in 1939. The junction was still open in 1964 but had been closed by the time of the 1970 OS one inch map.
The original joining roads of A211 Foots Cray Road and Main Road were segregated from A20 and joined together by an extension of Main road.
The name was still used for the bend on A20 at the location. In a Commons debate on 22 January 1988, after the opening of the Sidcup Bypass Improvement Scheme, it was said "The 50 mph speed limit on the urban section of the bypass was imposed to increase safety through the interchanges at Crittalls Corner and Frognal Corner and to reduce the speed of traffic on the approach to the sharp bend at Kemnal corner which has a speed limit of 40 mph."
It was named after Kemnal Manor which was just to the south.
