Kidbrooke Interchange is a traffic light controlled junction built as part of the Rochester Way Relief Road in 1988. It is the only at-grade junction on an otherwise freeflowing route between Blackwall Tunnel and the M2.
History
The Interchange part of the name comes from earlier plans for a vast four level stacked interchange as part of the Ringway plans. Orders for this junction along with the A2(M) were made in 1969 but the minister decided not to confirm. After the Ringways were scrapped there was still a need for road improvements in the area so a much reduced scheme was resurrected which replaced the stack interchange with a set of traffic lights.
