Heading north from the A4 at Hicks Gate, the A4174 enjoys its longest stretch of uninterrupted Dual carriageway, before hard braking signals the Kingsfield Roundabout at Hanham. This is not where it crosses the A431 - that road has already sailed overhead at the last bridge - instead, this is where Marsham Way, a link road, connects the two routes via a small retail and industrial park. The roundabout also provides access to the Longwell Green Leisure Complex and Vue Cinema.
