Lumley Bridge crosses the River Wear on the B1284 east of Chester-le-Street, near to the Riverside cricket ground. It is a simple design with steel beams supporting a concrete deck and was built to replace an older steel bridge which was situated a short distance downstream. This was demolished with the opening of the current structure; however the old stone abutments remain in place.

One of the abutments for the former bridge, demolished in 1997
