Knaves Beech Interchange is junction 3 of the M40.
Due to the difficulty of getting slip roads up to the Loudwater Viaduct to meet the M40 westwards, the junction is limited access.
The original junction on the A40 was where, from 1922 to 1935, the A32 ended. The roundabout on the A40, where it meets the A4094 and the M40 sliproads is called the Dreams Roundabout via a sponsorship deal with the bed company whose HQ is just south of the roundabout.
The junction was not part of the original construction of the M40, and consisted only of small stubs. It opened a few years later in around 1974.
