Junction 3A on the M40 is one of several proposals to relieve Junction 4. It will provide west-facing slips that are lacking at Junction 3, giving Oxford/Birmingham-bound access to High Wycombe not reliant on Junction 4.
A link road (mostly an upgrade of Spring Lane) will link this junction to the A40 with a new bridge over the Wye.
Stub slips created for the unbuilt Abbey Barnes services might be reused for the junction. The slip roads will be long to allow uphill acceleration to 120 km/h and will hit Spring Lane about 200m apart, to maximise visibility for the junctions on Spring Lane.
The junction is estimated to cost £11,595,758
