The M57 is known as the Liverpool Outer Ring Road, though as the city is located on the coast a full ring is unlikely. The motorway is notable for being unfinished at both ends.
Main Article: Switch Island
Switch Island is a heavily modified roundabout interchange near Aintree. It is the terminus of two motorways, the M57 and M58, and is also the terminus of the A5036. The A59 also passes through this junction. It was originally a normal roundabout, but has since been modified several times.
