Craigforth Interchange is Junction 10 of the M9, and lies to the west of Stirling. It is a modified dumnbell design, where the two roundabouts are given separate names. The western roundabout is called the Craigforth Roundabout and the eastern one is called Kildean. The A84 crosses at a slight skew, following the historic line of the road, which can be found immediately to the north, still in use as parking (west side) and a VOSA checkpoint (east side). Because of the skew, the sliproads from the western roundabout head south before turning, whilst those from the eastern roundabout head west to join the motorway. The A84 is primary on both sides of the junction, but is only Trunk to the west, which is one of the main routes into the West Highlands.
Each of the roundabouts also has a 4th arm, that to the west leading into the Craigforth House office complex, whilst that to the east is the old line of the A84 through Raploch, which was replaced as the A84 by the modern bypass road in the late 2000s, once further tie ins had been built at the city end of the two roads. Between the two roundabouts, and to the east of the motorway, a minor road turns north, providing access to a farm and a Department of Transport Check Point which is sited on the old line of the A84.
The junction is sited in a loop of the River Forth, with the M9 crossing the river immediately to the north of the junction, and the A84 crossing it to the west at Drip Bridge.
