Mans Bridge was an important crossing of the A27 and the River Itchen. It gave its name to the Mansbridge area of Southampton.
In the 1970s the A27 through here was straightened. A new bridge was provided immediately to the north. The old bridge was maintained for use by pedestrians, and it remains a distinctive landmark thanks to its steep hump.
