Marling Cross is the main junction for the Eastern parts of Gravesend. Originally a trumpet interchange, it was massively rebuilt in the late 2000s. The A2 was rebuilt from D3M into D4M. Valley Drive (the road to Gravesend) gained a safer layout and the near by Nells Café was also made safer. The old D3 A2 has now been abandoned and returned to nature. Under the 2018 Lower Thames Crossing plans (which call the junction Gravesend East), there will be some modification, and the east-facing slip roads will not access the A2, but rather the crossing.
