Meavaig Bridge carries the B887 across the Abhainn Mhiabhaig at the head of Loch Mhiabhaig on Harris. The current bridge is a single span concrete structure carrying a single track road between wide pavements with metal barriers for parapets. This style suggests a date in the 1980s or early 90s. Its location at the head of the loch sees the road take a long detour around the narrow inlet, climbing away from the loch on either side. Immediately upstream of the present bridge, the remains of its predecessor can be identified on either bank, although there is only a couple of courses of stonework surviving. This was almost certainly a single stone arch across the river, connecting the two surviving stubs of the old road. The abutments seem to be built into the river, constricting the flow of water, which may have been the eventual downfall of the bridge.
