For the existing roundabout serving Inverness Airport, see Airport Roundabout (Inverness).
Mid Coul Junction is the planned replacement for the existing Airport Roundabout at Dalcross to the east of Inverness. Plans are progressing to dual the A96 between Inverness and Nairn, and this will see a new dual carriageway built to the north of the existing line here, and just squeezed in between the existing road and the railway line.
The new junction will be a partially folded Dumbbell, with the eastbound slips being normal, parallel to the new road, whilst the westbound onslip will be curled inside the offslip to the east of the junction. They will meet the south roundabout, which will be sited a little further south than the existing small roundabout on the airport approach road. The north roundabout will be hard up against the railway line, with the exit almost immediately crossing the bridge on its way to the Airport.
