Millburn Roundabout is where the B9006 terminates on the B865, to the east of Inverness City Centre. Both routes used to be A roads, with the B865 to the east being the former A96, and the western arm of the B865 and the B9006 being the former A9. The routes were all down graded to their current numbers around 1982 when the Kessock Bridge and A9 Inverness bypass were opened. It is understood that following the opening of the new A9 and the Kessock Bridge, the B865 was renumbered for several years as the A82 until the A82 was rerouted to Longman Road and the new Friars Bridge.
The fourth arm of the roundabout leads under the railway line and through the industrial area of the city to Harbour Road Roundabout on the A82. It is understood that Harbour Road was formerly a B road. The A9 and A96 now meet at the Raigmore Interchange, just a short distance to the east of Millburn Roundabout, with the B856 connecting the two junctions.
