Mold Road Interchange is Junction 5 of the A483 in the Welsh Government's junction numbering scheme.
It replaces Plas Coch crossroads, where the A541 met the B5101. To the west, the A541 split from Summerhill Road at a fork at Crispen Lodge.
When the A483 was built, a short section of the A541 either side was dualled. Plas Coch was initially kept as a crossroads, but later converted to a roundabout.
