Also known as service stations and commonly abbreviated to MSAs, MSAs are a rest and refuel stop for drivers on motorways. Common features at a service area are toilets, petrol stations, restaurants, hotels and usually a fast food outlet with a drive-thru. Services also have an operator: Moto, WelcomeBreak, Roadchef and Extra (ranked in order of how many outlets each from largest to smallest). There are also car park and HGV car parks and the size of the bays vary accordingly. Also occasionally used to describe motorway-style service areas on All-Purpose roads.
