The start / end of the N19 at Shannon Airport.
The N19 is a short but important link road in western Ireland, which exists in order to serve Shannon and its airport. It is unique among National Primary Roads in that it runs entirely on new build road to serve the airport, and does not run on the line of any former T Road, even partially.
Approaching the N18
(now partially upgraded to the M18
), north of Shannon.
It starts – aside from a short connection to the R458 – at the Smithstown grade-separated junction where the N18 becomes the M18 north-east of Shannon, and follows a southwesterly course from there along a dual-carriageway which passes through the town's business park and industrial estate zone before terminating at the main entrance of the International Airport.
