Old Steine is currently almost a hamburger roundabout, however its in the shape of a tear-drop and there is no full circular carriageway. The A23 appears from the north on two S2 one-way roads (is basically a D2 but carriageways have different names) The south of it connects onto the Grand Junction as a D2. the B2066 runs east to west across the junction, however westbound traffic is buses only. There are also Bus lanes all over the place.
Part of a development plan for Valley Gardens, Old Steine is being redesigned and instead of 2 lane traffic traveling around it, there will be a D2 (+Bus Lane southbound) road on the eastern side. Part of the old circulatory road will remain for access and buses, but not provide any northbound access, it also appears that the B2066 westbound will be open to all traffic though. The A23 and B2066 will cross at a traffic light controlled crossroad. The old circulatory area will become a pedestrian zone, with a separated cycle track
